Tasting Note
A very aromatic red with ripe raspberry and cherry fruit and tobacco and cocoa bean spice on the nose and palate. Rich and fleshy with a fresh minerality to finish, this is a fine example of Mercurey PInot Noir, from the heart of this district of great wines.
Try with steaks and chunks of beef and lamb, braised, or in sauce.

This wine matures in 228 L barrels for ten months followed by five months of ageing in stainless steel vats.
This vineyard takes its name from “Le Clos du Roi”, as one of the hereditary vineyards of the Dukes of Burgundy. Thus, for instance the Clos du Roy in Chenôve was originally called "Le Clos du Duc". In Aloxe–Corton and Beaune, there are also two Le Clos du Roi estates that belonged to the Dukes of Burgundy. In Mercurey, Le Clos du Roy first belonged to the Montaigu family.
