Tasting Note

This is a fruity, modern style of Pinot Noir from the Premier Cru vineyards of Clos Rousseau in the west part of  Santenay in Burgundy's Cote De Beaune. It's aroma is very inviting as it delivers lots of bright berry fruit, particularly plum, damson and strawberry, with hints of liquorice, violets and subtle notes of rose petals. There's an earthiness to the palate that offers depth and it has a silkiness that makes it effortless to enjoy.

Try this with a venison and wild mushroom wellington.

The red wines by Domain Sorine, made from the Pinot Noir grapes are grown on vines over 50 years old. They are aged for 12 to 15 months in oak barrels (20 to 30% new wood). The result is elegant, fruity wines with a lot of complexity that, are built for ageing.

The Sorine are one of the oldest families in the village of Santenay. After abandoning the vineyard following the phylloxera crisis, Charles Sorine took over the vines in 1925. In 1987, Christian joined his father on the farm. Emma joined him in 2009. Together, they have restored a magnificent building in Cheilly-lès-Maranges including a cellar for sale and tasting and cellars of the 15th and 18th century allowing the aging in barrels of all their cuvées. They manage their vineyards according to biodymanic principles and gently filter the wines on site with very little added sulpur.
